As we get older, making new relationships is so much harder.
Add in COVID and networking for job searching becomes so hard!
Today’s #JobSearchingTip is to take advantage of your existing network first.
Before you try to strike up conversations with strangers on LinkedIn, have you let your own network know that you’re actively looking?
— Have you asked your friends if their company may be hiring or if they know anyone that is?
— Have you asked if they can help you make any connections on your behalf during your job search?
Your network is bigger than you think!
It’s not just work-related people like your former or current colleagues. Your network includes:
— your friends and neighbors
— your immediate and extended family
— the parents of your children’s friends
— people that you have common interests and hobbies
— your church group
— the people you see at the local gym
Here’s my tennis crew! We’re professional women in various industries – banking, government, medical, and technology. We live in different areas of town yet we all play tennis together on a regular basis.
Remember to ask your existing network to help during your job search!
