When I was looking for a new job, the first thing I always did was update my resume which was WRONG! Whaaat?
It felt like the obvious first step, right?
Now, I realize that updating your resume is actually closer to the end of the job search (huh?).
The first order of business is to get your mindset in the right place.
Are you mentally prepared to make a change in your work?
Are you confident that you can make this change?
Are you confident that you’ll succeed at the new job?
Are you worth it? Should someone hire you? Should they pay you more than you’re making now?
Are you ready to make sacrifices with your free time as you buckle down on job search activities like researching and interviewing?
Are you ready for the emotional roller coaster as you think you’re on the verge of getting an offer only to get ghosted for weeks on end by recruiters?
If you can’t answer a BIG YES to all of those questions, then you’re not mentally ready for the job search ahead.
Women, especially, face more challenges around mindset and imposter syndrome than men.
Before you start the job search, get your mental house in order.
And if you’re not sure how to do this, drop me a message.
Let’s get you fast-tracked on this career journey NOW!
